Malcolm Bricklin Zoom-ing into Oshawa for Canadian Automotive Museum lecture series

The creator of Canada’s most iconic sports car is coming to the Canadian Automotive Museum in Oshawa this Thursday via Zoom, as part of the museum’s Third Thursday lecture series.
Automotive entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin, inventor of the eponymous Bricklin, the unique but ultimately ill-fated sports car that was built between 1974 and 1975, will be available to chat about the car – just 3,000 of the gull-wing door, two-seat models were built, with more than half of them still on the road as of 2012 – his many other ventures and his current job as founder and CEO of New York-based Visionary Vehicles, which is developing the 3EV electric car.
Bricklin, one of the great independent automotive innovators, founded his first business at the age of 19 and made a name for himself in the following years as an auto entrepreneur and importer. He was responsible for the first North American imports of the iconic Fuji Rabbit scooter and was instrumental in the founding of Subaru of America.
Following the failure of his innovative Bricklin SV-1 in the 1970s, he turned to the European market, importing the Serbian-made Yugo.
Bricklin will be joined on the ZOOM talk by museum curator Alex Gates and special project coordinator Dumaresq de Pencier as they discuss the Bricklin, alternative energy vehicles and the future of the North American auto market.
The online talk begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public, but registration is required. The Canadian Automotive Museum is a registered Canadian charity and a suggested donation of $10 goes toward covering the cost of hosting these virtual events.
