Earlier this week, Highway 407 ETR announced that it will be increasing tolls in the new year.

The changes will take effect on Jan. 1.

“Toll rates peak during morning and afternoon rush hour when Highway 407 ETR is busiest,” a news release from the 407 said.

“Zones with lighter traffic will remain unchanged during rush hour, while a few central sections nearing congestion in the afternoon will see increases of up to 34 cents per kilometre for light vehicles.”

Most customers with a personal transponder will see an average monthly increase of about $5, the release said.

Meanwhile, the annual transponder lease fee will cost $31.50 plus tax, up from $29.50.

While the highway is increasing tolls, it also announced something brand new that’s coming in 2026: a loyalty points program.

“Building on its commitment to deliver value for customers, 407 ETR will also launch a new loyalty program in 2026,” the release said.

“Drivers will be able to earn and redeem points on their trips — right from the 407 ETR mobile app.”

INsauga.com reached out to the 407 for additional information on the program, but details remain scarce for the time being.

A spokesperson said customers will be able to redeem points for free travel on the highway. It will all be done through the 407 ETR app, they said.

“Stay tuned for more details about this program in the new year,” the spokesperson added.

“In the meantime, create a My Account and download the app to be the first to know.”

Meanwhile, driving promotions will also continue in 2026.

The highway said its on track to hand out a total of $200 million in driving offers this year.
