Some drivers are now able to use Highway 407 for free during rush hour in Ontario.

It’s part of the highway’s ongoing promotions this year in which individuals are selected and given toll-free travel.

“This year, 407 ETR has launched campaigns to millions of customers, and continues to use (targeted) driving offers as a tool to help alleviate traffic on alternative congested routes,” 407 ETR said in a statement to INsauga.com.

Drivers can’t request to be included in the free driving promotions. Instead, those with a “My Account” can potentially be selected.

Contact info needs to be up-to-date, as well as an individual’s licence plate and email address, which should also be subscribed to marketing messages, 407 ETR’s website says.

“We offer personalized offers tailored to each customer’s unique driving habits to help alleviate congestion on alternate routes when they are busiest,” the statement said.

One of the promotions just took effect and lasts until the end of November.

Drivers who received a promotion email needed to unlock the offer before Saturday, Aug. 30, however.

“From Sept. 1, 2025 to Nov. 30, 2025, eligible personal vehicles, with Ontario plates only, that enter Highway 407 ETR from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and / or 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding Ontario statutory holidays, will receive free unlimited travel on Highway 407 ETR during the promotion time period,” the terms of the offer state.

The discounts will then appear on drivers’ bill as a credit, covering all toll charges, camera charges, and account fees incurred during the promo period.

Transponder lease fees will continue to apply.

Credits for trips taken around seven to 10 days before a billing date might be reflected on the following bill, the terms noted.

The promotions can’t be transferred to another customer or vehicle.

The promotions apply to the whole stretch of Highway 407 ETR.

Earlier this year, the Ford government removed tolls from the provincially owned portion of Highway 407.
