After 15 years of playing the lottery, Whitby’s Maxine Wray scored her first big win when the retiree collected more than $87,000 in the April 3 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

“I used the OLG app when I checked my ticket and I saw Big Winner, but I thought I won $872 at first. I had to check it again and immediately felt so thankful,” Wray said. “Gratitude washed over me.”

The second-place prize was worth $87,226.80.

“I shared the news with my dad, and it took him a few seconds to compute what I was saying. When he finally did, he was so excited.” she added while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

Wray says she will use her win to make magical memories. “I plan to use this as a travel fund. First stop, Greece!”

The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees a $1 million prize, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million.

The winning ticket was purchased at Smoker’s Corner on Kingston Road in Pickering.
