A GoFundMe campaign has been started by a local resident to help a business in Milton.

The resident, Courtney Campbell, created the page to help Wet Pets Aquariums Inc., located at 295 Main St. East Unit #4.

In a Facebook post that mentions the GoFundMe page, a local resident said the shop has been struggling to stay afloat due to a decline in sales.

“Last night while enjoying Miracle on Main St. with my son, we decided to stop into Wet Pets. The owner was seriously almost in tears telling us that he may have to close up soon,” reads the post.

“He mentioned the landlord raised the rent quite a bit and in the last three weeks, there may have been three sales each week.”

The Facebook post has gotten over 300 shares and has amassed 145 comments from members of the community showing their support.

“He is truly the best and knows everything you could ever imagine about wet pets,” reads one comment.

“Been a fish person my whole life and this store is by far the most superior I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I’m really hoping we can help save his business,” reads another comment.

Since the GoFundMe page was set up, it has surpassed its goal of $2,500 which will go towards helping the business.
