The United Way Hamilton and Halton’s recent fundraising success hasn’t gone unnoticed.

The local charity, which provides support for communities including Burlington and Oakville, was showcased as centre of excellence at a global United Way Worldwide conference held on March  31.

Jennifer Loker, Vice President, Resource Development at United Way Halton & Hamilton, was featured as an industry expert panelist.

In an audience comprising of 37 United Way CEOs and their teams from countries from around the world, Loker was asked to share how the organization’s hyper-local fundraising and investments strategy led to success during last year’s fundraising campaign.

“After two years of the pandemic, communities all over the world are still feeling the effects of COVID-19, like isolation, struggling to maintain their mental health, and trying to make ends meet for themselves and their families,” says Loker, who has been a part of the United Way movement since 2005.

“It’s so essential that we come together as United Ways to share our resources, so we can continue our important work as leaders in the nonprofit community.”

Loker’s resources will be shared across United Way’s Worldwide network as a vital tool to support the upcoming fundraising campaign in support of the most vulnerable people around the globe who rely on local programs and services to help rebuild their lives.

“At a time when many charities are facing immense hardship as a result of the global pandemic, our local United Way hit milestones,” says Brad Park, president and CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton. “As a leader in the nonprofit sector, I am proud that Jennifer has the opportunity to represent our United Way on a global scale for the intent of knowledge translation.”

Park attributes the local United Way’s success to operational excellence, sound governance, organizational efficiencies, the adoption of technologies and an incredible team of individuals relentlessly focused on the organizational mission.

“The charitable sector is facing significant pressures, and with a number of programs relying on United Way funding, it is not an option for our team to lessen our impact,”

said Park.
