After several lockdowns and multiple variants of the COVID-19 virus that have taken their toll on residents, Mississauga is once again open for business–and play.

City of Mississauga officials say they’re opening the doors to various venues so residents can once again enjoy live events including OHL hockey, developmental league Raptors basketball and a variety of concerts and shows at both the Paramount Fine Foods Centre and Living Arts Centre (LAC).

“We’re ready to gather together with energy and excitement and enjoy professional artists, sports, music and performances in our live event community,” City officials say on their website.

While most pandemic-related restrictions have either been eased or altogether dropped, Mississauga officials remind people they still must wear masks while attending shows at City venues.

The following events and shows are open to the public:

Live Action Sports

  • the Raptors 905 basketball team is back to in-person games at full capacity at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre
  • the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads are seeking a playoff spot as they close out their season, also at the Paramount centre. Full capacity is also in effect for their games

City officials say their top priority, in addition to providing residents with top-calibre entertainment, is to keep visitors, entertainers, staff and the community safe.

As such, they ask people to keep the following in mind:

  • venue capacity is currently operating at 100 per cent
  • masks are to be worn in accordance with the City’s mandatory mask bylaw
  • food and beverage services at event venues are available, but must be consumed while in your seat. Masks are only to be lowered when actively consuming food and beverages
  • following direction from the government of Ontario, proof of vaccination is not required for most events at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre and the LAC. Capacity limits and active screening are also removed
