Lincoln residents will have ample opportunity for their input to be heard as Lincoln discusses its 2023 Operating Budget and the potential for program and user fee hikes.

The town said recently, “As part of the budget review process, Council will consider the 2023 Fees and Charges By-law and the establishment of the 2023 rates and fees for all Town programs and services which includes rates and fees for Planning & Building, Water and Wastewater.”

While that’s no guarantee of impending hikes, traditionally that’s one of the tools used by municipalities to keep the property tax increases lower.

However, residents can offer their input. With the Committee of the Whole meeting slated for Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 pm, the public has to submit their delegation requests or written comments by the previous Thursday – January 19 – no later than 9 am to: [email protected]

All submissions will include the public meeting for the consideration of all the 2023 rates and user fees and charges for Lincoln.

The public are invited to submit delegation requests and/or written comments related to items on the agenda to [email protected] no later than 9:00 a.m. on the Thursday before the scheduled meeting. All delegation submissions will be provided to the Mayor and Council prior to the meeting and will form part of the public record.

As part of the budget review process, Council will consider the 2023 Fees and Charges By-law and the establishment of the 2023 rates and fees for all Town programs and services which includes rates and fees for Planning & Building, Water and Wastewater.

  • The building permit rates cover the expenditures to administer the building code act by the Town to deliver these services.
  • The water and wastewater rates provide for the treatment/distribution of water and the collection/treatment of wastewater and shall fund operating expenses and capital expenditures associated with the Town’s water and wastewater systems.

Members of the public can watch the meeting proceedings on Lincoln’s YouTube channel found HERE.
