Drinking wine served from a repurposed shipping container may not have been part of your weekend plans originally, but that’s probably because you didn’t know it existed until now.

Winebox has popped up on King William St. in Hamilton and it’s gaining plenty of attention.

Serving “the best wines you’ve never heard of,” Winebox is an indie wine shop that offers boutique, small-batch, and handcrafted wines you won’t find at the LCBO.

“Most people think of the wine world as being traditional, historical and stuffy,” reads the company’s website. “We want to help push the boundaries and to do things differently in order to offer a better service, experience, selection and value for our customer.”

Located in the middle of King Williams’ famous restaurant row, Winebox specializes in “under the radar” wines from all over the world.

Customers can take advantage of the closed street and pull up a pop-up bar stool to enjoy wine by the glass, or by the bottle, via Winebox’s fully stocked bottle shop.
