Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca used the backdrop of a Mississauga gas station today to lash out at the Conservative government and how under Doug Ford’s leadership prices have soared in Ontario.

“We know Ontarians are in the midst of the worst affordability crisis that they have faced in many years,” said Del Duca during his provincial election campaign stop in Malton. “The cost of pretty well everything in your day-to-day lives has skyrocketed under the Ford Conservatives.”

Del Duca pointed out that during the provincial election of 2018, Ford said that he would lower gas prices and warned that if he wasn’t elected that prices would rise above $2 per litre.

“And what have we seen? Gas is above that price now and has nearly doubled since Ford became premier,” said Del Duca.

Directing his comments specifically to Mississauga voters, Del Duca said if he becomes premier he would reduce both the gas and fuel tax which would immediately drop the price we pay at the pumps.

Del Duca added that the Liberal platform is fully costed and promised if elected Ontarians will see cheaper prices for transit, prepared meals, gas and rent.

As well as his stop at the gas station in Malton, Del Duca is also in Mississauga today for a town hall meeting and to visit with small business owners.
