Riding a nine-game winning streak, the Hamilton Bulldogs are the first Ontario Hockey League club to clinch a playoff spot.
The loss Wednesday night by the ninth-place Sudbury Wolves assured that the Eastern Conference-leading Bulldogs would take part in their fifth straight OHL playoffs with 19 games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
The Bulldogs have won 16 of their last 17 games.

Hamilton has a two-point conference lead and five games in hand over the second-place Mississauga Steelheads. They’re also in a good position to clinch home ice throughout the postseason, holding a two-point edge over the West-leading Flint Firebirds and four games in hand.
The Bulldogs are 23-4-1-2 at FirstOntario Centre this season.
Next up for Bulldogs is a trip to Barrie and Mississauga Thursday and Friday before returning home to play in the Outdoor Showcase at Hamilton’s Tim Hortons Field on Mar. 14 at 7 p.m. against the Oshawa Generals.
