At least three roads have been closed in Burlington, Milton and Oakville due to the rain and melting snow on Thursday, Feb. 17.

And things are only going to get worse.

In Milton, Bell School Line between Derry and Britannia Rds., and Esquesing between 5 Side Road and James Snow are both shut down. In north Burlington, Walker’s Line between Derry and Britannia Rds. is also closed.

As Thursday progresses, the rain is expected to turn into sleet, freezing rain and then blizzard conditions. The snowfall could continue overnight.

If possible, commuters are advised to get an early jump on the trip home and Friday’s travel should be just as bad.

School bus cancellations and school closures are expected Friday.

Snowfall accumulation is expected to be between 15 to 30 cm across Halton.
