Students who will be attending Wilfrid Laurier University’s newly-renovated Milton Academic Centre will be able to get a sneak peak during the Laurier Milton Spring Open House Saturday, May 25.

The open house will provide applicants, students considering applying and their families an opportunity to speak with faculty and staff about Laurier’s Milton campus experience and programs, connect with current students, and explore the Milton Academic Centre.

“We are looking forward to meeting future Laurier Milton students and showcasing the Milton Academic Centre,” said Laurier president and vice-chancellor Deborah MacLatchy, who will be in attendance.

“Our Milton campus will give local and commuter students the chance to experience Laurier’s high-quality academic programs and student life close to home, while becoming part of Laurier’s unique multi-campus culture.”

Laurier will offer two of its most popular and established programs, computer science and psychology, when the campus opens its doors this fall. Both undergraduate degree programs will be taught with an innovative, problem-based approach, and extensive hands-on learning opportunities.

“Laurier Milton’s programs are designed to provide students with a comprehensive education, whether they are learning about the biological and behavioural sciences or mastering computing languages and algorithms,” said Richelle Monaghan, vice dean of the Faculty of Science.

“Our programs give students the quality education and career readiness they want and need.”

Open House attendees will also have the chance to find out more about admissions, co-op programs, student success, accessible learning, financial aid and Laurier’s Faculty of Science.

Representatives from both Milton Transit and Metrolinx (GO Transit) will be available to talk about student rates and services.

Other topics that will be available for discussion include:

  • Laurier Off-Campus University Students program
  • Wilfrid Laurier University students’ union
  • Laurier international student support

“Beginning as an engaging education hub in the Laurier Milton Academic Centre, Laurier Milton will develop over the years into a robust, purpose-built campus in the Milton Education Village,” said a spokesperson.

“Campus spaces will come to life over time, grounded by Indigenous principles of land stewardship and enriched by sustainable buildings.”

The Laurier Milton Spring Open House takes place Saturday, May 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Laurier Milton Academic Centre, 555 Industrial Dr. in Milton.
