Kids now need a PRESTO card to continue free rides on Burlington Transit

Published March 1, 2023 at 9:44 am

Children 12 years of age and under will have to use a PRESTO card starting today (March 1) to continue to get free rides on Burlington Transit.

No card is needed for those in this age group when they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

To help with the switch, kids’ PRESTO cards will be given away at the Downtown Transit Terminal on Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As well, they will be available at Tansley Woods on March 4 from 9 a.m. to noon. One thousand of the cards will be handed out. Please bring proof of age, such as a birth certificate, to get a free kids’ PRESTO card.

Follow Burlington Transit on Twitter for other PRESTO card giveaway location details.

If you are turning 13 soon, transit users are asked to convert their PRESTO card from kids to youth to make sure the appropriate fare will be charged.

If you are under the age of 12, a PRESTO card is also needed when traveling out of town and using transit in Oakville and Hamilton.
