Kidnapping investigation results in charges for 8 people from Brampton and Georgetown

Eight people face charges in connection to a kidnapping investigation in Brampton.
Two people in their early 20s were allegedly held against their will, kidnapped and later released on Feb. 15 around 9:30 p.m., Peel Regional Police said a in press release.
Yesterday (May 18), police searched two homes in Brampton and one in Georgetown around 6 a.m., police said.
Suspects were arrested, and several items were seized, including a nine mm compact handgun, ammunition, vehicles and property.
The following people were charged:
- Danish Thakur, 24, from Brampton, was charged with kidnapping, robbery, possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, discharging a firearm, and assault with a weapon.
- Daljeet Singh, 28, from Brampton and Harmanpreet Singh, 22, from Brampton, have both been charged with kidnapping and robbery.
- Snowerpreet Khehra, 25, from Georgetown, has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
- Georgetown residents Komalpreet Singh, 22, Saheyad Kang, 21, Arundeep Singh, 24, and Maninderjit Singh, 26, were each charged with one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
All people charged were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Thursday, May 18.
