June 16 weather: High near 25 C and thunderstorm risk in southern Ontario

Tuesday could bring showers and a risk of thunderstorms throughout the day to the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will start sunny with a 30 per cent to 40 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s a risk of thunderstorms starting in the afternoon with wind gusts up to 50 km/h possible, the weather agency says.

The daytime high will be around 24 C in Mississauga, but will feel more like 26 C due to the humidity.

Tuesday night could bring more showers around midnight with a risk of thunderstorms overnight. The overnight low is expected to be around 15 C.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, expect a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 23 C during the day. The evening will bring a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 16 C.
