Is January 3 a holiday in Brampton? Here’s what’s open and closed

With New Year’s Day falling on Saturday, many Brampton residents are also wondering what’s open and closed across the city on January 3.

Also, with cases of COVID-19 surging once again, it’s always best to either call ahead or check your destination online for any reduced hours of operation or closures.

Here’s what’s open and closed in Brampton on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022:

Open:

  • Shopping malls
  • Most grocery stores
  • Most Shoppers Drug Marts
  • City skating rinks, including Chinguacousy Park Skating Recreational Trail, Earnscliffe Park Outdoor Skating Rink, Flower City Community Campus Outdoor Skating Rink, Gage Park Outdoor Skating Recreational Trail, Gore Meadows Covered Outdoor Skating Rink, Morris Kerbel Park Outdoor Skating Rink, Mount Pleasant Outdoor Skating Rink
  • Mount Chinguacousy
  • Most restaurants (call ahead/check online to confirm)
  • Most Beer Stores
  • Most LCBOs
  • Movie theatres
  • Most Brampton Library branches
  • Recreation facilities (schedules/closures vary between facilities re: ice rental and community centres, so check online for information)

Closed:

  • Banks
  • City Hall, and most other government offices
  • The Brampton Animal Shelter
