Is Jan. 3, 2022 a holiday in Mississauga? Here’s what’s open and closed

With New Year’s Day falling on Saturday, many Mississauga residents are also wondering what’s open and closed across the city this coming Monday, Jan. 3.

While most of the usual closures are in effect on New Year’s Day, it’s more of a mixed bag on Monday. Most businesses and services will operate as usual, while others will observe the New Year’s holiday that day.

Also, with cases of COVID-19 surging once again, it’s always best to either call ahead or check your destination online for any reduced hours of operation or closures.

Here’s what’s open and closed in Mississauga on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022:

Open:

  • Shopping malls
  • Most grocery stores
  • Shoppers Drug Marts
  • Celebration Square Ice Rink
  • Most restaurants (call ahead/check online) to be sure
  • The Beer Store
  • LCBO stores
  • Mail delivery
  • Movie theatres
  • Mississauga libraries (opening times vary by library)
  • Recreation facilities (schedules/closures vary between facilities re: ice rental and community centres, so check online for information)

Closed:

  • Banks
  • Mississauga City Hall, and most other government offices

  • 3-1-1 Citizen Contact Centre
