What’s Open and Closed New Year’s Day in Mississauga

This year in Mississauga, New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday.
While most businesses shut down on New Year’s Day each year, there are some exceptions.
Also, with cases of COVID-19 surging once again, it’s always best to either call ahead or check your destination online for any reduced hours of operation.
Here’s what’s open and closed in Mississauga on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2022:
Open:
- Square One Shopping Centre (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- Walmart Supercentre Square One
- Whole Foods Square One
- Some smaller grocery stores, such as Rabba
- Select Shoppers Drug Marts (call ahead)
- Celebration Square Ice Rink
- Some restaurants might be open for takeout and delivery, but call ahead to be sure
Closed:
- Erin Mills Town Centre
- Heartland Town Centre
- Dixie Outlet Mall
- Non-essential stores at the Mississauga Chinese Centre are closed (call ahead or check online)
- Most major grocery stores
- Government offices (including Mississauga City Hall, which reopens on Tues., Jan. 4)
- 3-1-1 Citizen Contact Centre (closed Jan. 1-3)
- Banks
- Libraries
- Community Centres
- LCBO
- The Beer Store
- Canada Post
Transit
- MiWay will operate on a holiday schedule from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3
- GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule
