More than one year ago, Six Flags discussed major investments it was making in its parks, including Canada’s Wonderland.
The corporation said in a November 2024 news release that it was investing more than $1 billion over the next two years “to enhance guest experience” at its 42 parks.
Among the investments planned for the 2026 operating season was “a new record-breaking water attraction” at Canada’s Wonderland, according to the release.
The 2026 season is fast approaching and it will be here before we know it.
Just last week, Canada’s Wonderland said that it will be opening on May 3.
So what’s the status of the new water attraction?
As the opening date draws closer, we haven’t seen announcements about it from Canada’s Wonderland, so INsauga.com reached out to the park for an update.
And as it turns out, the attraction won’t be coming this year after all.
“As we review timing and priorities, we have decided not to move forward with the water attraction for the upcoming season,” Canada’s Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock said.
“Following last year’s major investment in our record-breaking roller coaster AlpenFury, we remain focused on delivering exceptional new experiences. Stay tuned—more exciting attraction, event and park updates for 2026 will be shared soon.”
INsauga.com asked if the new water attraction was cancelled altogether, but that question wasn’t addressed.
It’s also not yet clear what the “more exciting attraction, event and park updates” might entail.
While we won’t be seeing that new “record-breaking” water attraction this year, there are of course still plenty of rides and slides at Canada’s Wonderland, including AlpenFury, which just opened last July.
