The province announced that they will be launching an inquest into the 2017 death of First Nations teen, Devon Freeman.
Dr. Karen Schiff, the Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, announced on Thursday (Feb. 13) that an inquest will be held into the death of the teen.
Freeman, 17, was reported missing from the Lynwood Charlton Centre in Flamborough in October 2017. He was found deceased near that location on April 12, 2018.
It was determined that Freeman died by suicide.

In the wake of his death and the discovery of his body, members of Freeman’s family and the Ontario First Nation where he was born, have called for an inquest into his death.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Freeman’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
