Halton Hills has reintroduced a program to encourage residents to plant trees.

The voucher program, which launched successfully last year, is meant to bring more resilient, mature trees onto properties to help increase the local tree canopy by offering a $50 purchasing certificate.

To qualify for the voucher, you can visit the customer service desks at the Gellert Community Centre, Mold-Masters SportsPlex or the Acton Arena and Community Centre between April 26 and June 30, 2024. Vouchers will be given out during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. You have to provide proof that you live in Halton Hills.

To use the voucher you can visit Reds Garden Centre (Acton) or Sheridan Nurseries (Georgetown location only) and select a tree of  $60 or more.

The voucher can only be used one time, in person, by Halton Hills residents only. The maximum number of vouchers available in 2024 is 300. The program runs until June 30.

More information about the voucher program can be had by contacting the Town of Halton Hills at 905-873-2600, ext. 2290.
