Charges have been laid against a Brampton man after an in-car police cruiser camera helped find a stolen vehicle.

The incident happened on Saturday when an officer with the OPP was patrolling Highway 7 in the town of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, some 40 kilometres east of Peterborough.

That’s when the officer received an alert from their in-car camera about stolen vehicle.

Police pulled the vehicle over and say the male driver was impaired.

The OPP has charged Timothy Paris, 54, of Brampton with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation while impaired, two counts of operation while prohibited, fail to comply with probation order, and driving while under suspension.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

When you contact Crime Stoppers you stay anonymous, never have to testify, and could receive a $2,000 reward.
