Police have made multiple arrests related to an illegal lottery scheme and betting operation linked to Brampton businesses, the OPP says.
The investigation, dubbed “Project Baserunner” by the OPP, started over a year ago in May 2025 and was a probe into alleged illegal lottery sales at stores in the Greater Toronto Area.
Three businesses in Brampton were searched on April 15, and investigators say three people were arrested.
Anh Quan Nguyen, 25, Bao Khanh Dinh, 23, and Huong Thi Huynh, all of North York, have been charged with unauthorized lottery scheme, keep common gaming/betting house, and possession of property obtained by crime.
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at later dates.
