Crews from Niagara Peninsula Energy (NPEI) are working quickly and have most of the power restored from 3,000-plus homes and businesses in Niagara Falls left in the dark earlier this morning (Oct. 12).

According to NPEI, only the Lundy’s Lane area was still without power.

“Partial outage in Niagara Falls restored. Lundy’s Lane area is still out. Crews are working on the restoration. Power should be restored in the next hour. Thanks again for your patience,” NPEI posted on social just past 9 a.m.

That area is heavily populated with both residences and businesses so that would mean somewhere between 500 and 900 structures are still without power.

The initial outage affected areas west of the QEW, including Highway 20 and 57.

There has been no word from NPEI on what has caused the outage.
