Husband and wife score two separate lottery wins on the same day in Brampton

A married couple in Brampton are planning a trip overseas after doubling down on two lottery wins on the same day.
Gabriela Engel is a daycare worker from Brampton, and said what started out as a regular day turned extraordinary after buying a lotto ticket on a whim.
“I bought this $3.00 ticket and had more change left, so I decided to purchase another ticket,” she said. “I’m so happy I picked that ticket. It was a surreal moment.”
Engel shared the news about her win with her husband right away, who had also won a smaller prize on the same day.
“He won $500 earlier that day – so when I won $50,000, I had to rub it in his face,” Engel said with a laugh.
The 55-year-old Brampton winner said she plans to pay some bills, save, and take a trip to Europe with her winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Avo Convenience Supermarket on Earlsbridge Boulevard in Brampton.
