Joseph Brant Hospital is seeing an unprecedented demand for COVID-19 testing, creating longer wait times for appointments.
The Burlington hospital says the number of requests has jumped by 1,400 percent in recent days, a staggering number that may be due to the increase in positive COVID cases in Ontario. Exacerbating the problem is that large numbers of people – up to 40 percent – are not showing up for their booked appointments at the hospital.
Via Twitter the hospital says it is working with community partners to open an additional community-based testing centre.
The hospital indicates those booking appointments by telephone may face longer wait times than by booking online. Online appointments can be made at https://covidtesting.josephbranthospital.ca.
