To be clear, this is not a craft beer festival. This is business. That said, it is the business of craft beer – brewing it, marketing it and swapping tricks-of-the-trade with like-minded brewers.

So there will be no drunken frat boys to navigate around when the Ontario Craft Brewers Conference lands in the Niagara Falls Convention Centre on October 25 and 26.

Organizers call it “Canada’s largest craft brewing conference and tradeshow features the industry’s top brewers, decision-makers, thought leaders and supporters gathering in Niagara Falls for two days of education, networking, Suppliers Marketplace with 200+ exhibitors and delicious craft beer & food.”

After several years off due to the pandemic, the event, hashtagged #OCBC23, organizers note, “With the growth of the craft brewing sector in the past two decades, there are now hundreds of operating breweries, contract brewers and brewpubs in communities across the province.”

Topping the list for many of the brewers will be surviving the industry post-pandemic. “The global pandemic has had a major impact on craft brewing retail and tourism. Breweries are working in collaboration with their local communities, business organization, government and industry colleagues to build and sustain recovery from this great disruption.”

Finally, it’s a chance to see comrades-in-arms after a long break. “OCBC is the first opportunity for the industry to connect broadly, face-to-face and the ideal environment to facilitate collaboration and revitalization of the industry. The event gives attendees an opportunity to connect, share information and network with industry members, suppliers and stakeholders.”

With literally hundreds of brewers and breweries on their way, his conference is being billed as the “ultimate networking and education event, attracting craft brewers and industry suppliers from across North America.”

“Brewery principals, staff and suppliers will meet, connect, network, learn and conduct more business in two+ days than could be possible in several months.”
