Great news if you live in Mississauga and work downtown Toronto.

And you’re married to the GO Transit schedule.

More late-night and weekend train trips along the Lakeshore GO corridor are being added by Metrolinx.

“Regular, reliable public transit is essential to helping people access the jobs, services and opportunities that help to provide a high quality of life,” said Minister of Transportation Kathryn McGarry.

“More consistent 30-minute service on the Lakeshore lines between Oakville and Oshawa brings us closer to delivering on our promise of 15-minute service—all day, every day.”

New weekend morning trips and daily late-night trips for riders on the Lakeshore West and East lines begin April 7.

This means service runs every 30 minutes, seven days a week for commuters and families travelling between Oakville and Toronto on the Lakeshore West line, and between Oshawa and Toronto on the Lakeshore East line.

In total, there will be 52 new trips per week on the two lines.

There will also be more early-morning service on the UP Express between Union Station and Pearson International Airport, starting April 7, for a total of 14 new trips per week.

The two new trips – departing Union Station at 4:55 a.m. and 5:10 a.m. – make the UP Express an even more convenient choice for travellers catching an early flight and will offer airport employees more flexibility in their morning commutes.

“Our customers asked for us to fill in gaps in our schedule, and here are 66 examples of how we’re making it easier to take transit every day of the week,” said  Metrolinx president and CEO Phil Verster.

“Whether you’re heading home after an evening Jays, Raptors or Leafs game, or a concert, or to the airport for an early morning flight, these new train trips will give you more flexibility when you travel.”

Schedules for the Lakeshore East and Lakeshore West corridors will be available on the new and improved GO Transit website.

Reminder: PRESTO adult, senior, and student riders pay just $1.50 for the TTC portion of their journey when transferring between GO Transit or UP Express and the TTC.
