How to get PC Optimum points with this new change in Canada

Last month, a new change was announced for PC Optimum in Canada, giving members a new way to earn points.

Specsavers announced that it entered into a partnership with the popular loyalty rewards program.

It builds on the eyecare company’s relationship with Loblaw, which saw 111 Specsavers locations open within Loblaw stores last year, a press release said.

“As one of Canada’s strongest loyalty reward programs, PC Optimum was a compelling strategic choice,” said Jane Hoban, the managing director of Specsavers Canada.

“Over the past five years, we have built strong momentum and as we continue to grow, our focus remains on making quality eyewear and eyecare more accessible and more rewarding for every community we serve across this country.”

How many points you can earn

PC Optimum members are able to earn points on eligible purchases at Specsavers.

That includes glasses, lenses, contact lenses and accessories.

Points can be earned at all Specsavers locations throughout Canada.

Customers just need to scan their PC Optimum app or card at the time of purchase.

Members earn 10 points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases.

Points can be earned alongside existing Specsavers offers and promotions.

There are also additional bonus opportunities available through the PC Optimum app.

“Eye exams and optometric services aren’t eligible for earning points, and products/services provided by independent optometrists aren’t included,” Specsavers notes.

How much points are worth

PC Optimum points can be redeemed once a member accumulates 10,000 points.

Every 10,000 points is worth $10 (50,000 is worth $50, 100,000 is worth $100, etc.)

They can only be redeemed in increments of 10,000.

For example, if someone has 37,000 points they can get $30 off of a purchase and would then have 7,000 points left.

In terms of this partnership, points cannot be redeemed at Specsavers. They can be used at Loblaw-affiliated stores.

There are more than 18 million PC Optimum members in Canada.

Specsavers entered Canada in late 2021. Since then, more than 270 locations have opened across nine provinces and one territory, the company said.
