Canadian broadcasting icon Ron MacLean will join an all-star line-up of NHL stars and Olympic greats to pass the puck and raise money for Brampton’s second hospital.

A longtime referee before going on to host Coach’s Corner on Hockey Night in Canada and Hometown Hockey, McLean is just the latest big name added to the upcoming charity game later this month.

He will join fellow broadcaster Rod Black, goalie Malcolm Subban of the St. Louis Blues, and NHLer and former member of the Brampton Battalion Raffi Torres for the game on Aug. 23 at Brampton’s CAA Centre.

Other big names for the event include Toronto Maple Leafs Captain John Tavares, also known as Johnny Toronto, who will join fellow Maple Leaf Mark Giordano, Brampton’s own Sean Monahan of the Montreal Canadiens, and former Chicago Blackhawk Jeremy Roenick to name a few.

This year’s event is the second Hockey Night in Brampton, which was first launched in 2019 and helped raise $411,000 in support of the cardiology program at Brampton Civic Hospital in its first year.

The City says youth mental health services continue to experience a surge in patient volume, with more than 28,000 adolescents in Ontario currently waitlisted to receive mental health care.

Tickets are available now, and donations can also be made directly to William Osler Health Foundation.
