High risk sex offender released and moved to Mississauga

A convicted sex offender recently released from prison will call Mississauga home.
Joseph Faulkner, 30, was convicted of several sexual offences and breaching conditions. His statutory release date was Apr. 2, after which he moved to Dundas St. and Confederation Pkwy., a residential neighbourhood in Cooksville.
Faulkner remains under two probation orders which expire on August 1, 2023 and April 16, 2025. As a result of these orders, he cannot be around any children aged 16 or under unless accompanied by a responsible adult approved by Faulkner’s probation officer.
Peel Regional Police issued a safety advisory regarding Faulkner after a report from the Ministry of Solicitor General and a review of public safety issues.
The information police gleaned indicates Faulkner is at “elevated risk of re-offending” and officers “be working to monitor his activities within the community.”
“Peel Regional Police are releasing this information to the public as a precautionary measure. Our service strives to protect the public and values safety above all else,” police said,

“Although Joseph Faulkner presents a safety risk to the public, he remains a Canadian citizen, and his rights are guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. As such, Peel Regional Police will act to protect these rights if they are infringed,” they continued.
They’ve also warned the public to be cautious if they encounter Faulkner, saying “Parents should be mindful of their children’s activities and aware of the individuals they associate with.”
