Heavy snowfall warning in effect for southern Ontario

Some heavy snow is forecasted to hit the region very soon.
Environment Canada says we could see 15 to 25 cm of snow from two rounds of snowfall expected Monday into Tuesday morning across areas of southern Ontario, including Brampton and Halton. Meanwhile, Hamilton could see 20 to 30 cm and northeast winds gusting to 60 km/h.
“The first one is expected to begin overnight or early Monday morning with 5 cm of snow expected by afternoon. Potentially higher amounts of up to 10 cm may occur near Lake Erie,” says Environment Canada.
While the precipitation may diminish during the afternoon, another round of even heavier snow is expected to move in Monday evening and last until Tuesday morning, with an additional 10 to 20 cm likely.
Even higher amounts may be possible in Hamilton due to extra moisture coming off Lake Ontario, and locally higher amounts may also occur on the higher elevations of the escarpment.
Residents are advised to watch out for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions, including low visibility and roadways becoming difficult to traverse in the snow. If necessary, consider postponing non-essential travel until weather conditions improve.
