RECALLS: Warnings of injury and illness from items recalled from Walmart in Brampton and Mississauga

Health Canada has issued a number of recalls for items found to be hazardous and sold at Mississauga and Brampton Walmart stores, among other local retail locations.

On May 8, CanPrev Natural Health Products Ltd is recalling certain lots of Magnesium Bis-Glycinate Powder 250 (Berry Hibiscus and Rose Hip Dragonfruit) sold up to May 8 because of a packing error.

Affected lots were packaged with a scoop that is nearly twice the size (20cc) it should be (11cc), leading to users taking more than double the recommended dose of magnesium.

Users should discard the scoop and to obtain the recommended dose, take two teaspoons of the product instead, using a measuring spoon and not a kitchen spoon.

You should stop taking the product if you experience diarrhea or abdominal cramps. There is no need to return the product.

Health Canada warned not to consume Golden Mushroom brand Enoki Mushroom, which is being recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

All units of the Golden Mushroom, size 200g sold up to May 7 are being recalled. The recalled product should be thrown or returned to the store where it was purchased.

Anyone who becomes sick is asked to call your doctor. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the product.

Big Carrot brand juice products are also being recalled due to possibly containing pieces of glass.

Products include the 10 oz The Big Carrot Heart of Gold, 16 oz The Big Carrot Heart of Gold, 16 oz The Big Carrot Orange Juice and the 2 oz The Big Carrot Turmeric Ginger Shot.

Consumers who become sick from the product are asked to call their doctor. Recalled products should be thrown away or returned to the store where purchased.

There have been no reported injuries with consumption of the products.

Health Canada has recalled the Natural Hooded Moses Basket (SKU 223DAB44FE0C4E23AFEA185A864591B8). The product does not meet Canadian bassinet requirements, posing an injury hazard.

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Badger Basket Company.

Sold online at Walmart.ca, the product includes a hooded basket and bedding. The hood is removable.

Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that these bassinets do not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations in Canada.

Specifically, the product is unstable and can tip over, posing an injury hazard. In addition the ribbon from the hood is too long and if pulled into the sleeping area, may pose a strangulation hazard to the child.

As of April 23, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. Six units were sold in Canada.

Health Canada is also asking purchasers of the EDU-Toys Fun Magnet Set (15 pcs.) to stop using it and return the product to the store where it was purchased for a refund.

The recalled magnets do not meet the magnetic force requirements of the Toys Regulations and pose an ingestion hazard.

The magnet set is sold on a blister card and contains 15 magnets, eight of which are encased in plastic while the other seven aren’t. They are red, blue and yellow in colour.

The results of swallowing small powerful magnets can be very serious and life-threatening.

As of April 29, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. A total of 3,296 units of the recalled magnet were sold in Canada.

As of May 5, the Peloton Treadmill with TRO2 has also been recalled. The touchscreen on the treadmill can detach and fall as a result of loose screws, posing a risk of injury to consumers.

Health Canada is asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled treadmills and contact Peloton for a full refund and information about a free inspection and repair.

This product is different from the Peloton Tread+, which is not part of the recall and is not sold in Canada.

As of May 4, the company has received 83 incidents in Canada, including three reports of minor injuries.

The company says a reported 5513 units have been sold in Canada and 1056 in the United States.

The affected products were in Canada from February 2021 to May 2021.
