Residents in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon are being asked for feedback on how the Region of Peel pays for waste collection.

Staring on Monday (Jan. 24), the Region is hosting a virtual open house for residents to share their thoughts on the Region’s Solid Waste Financial Planning Project.

You can access the open house at peelwasteworkshop.ca and share your feedback once the portal goes live next week.

The Region is also holding a series of three online workshops in February with registration open online.

The Solid Waste Financial Planning Project will examine how the Region plans to pay for waste services in the future “to ensure it is financially sustainable,” according to a release.

In recent weeks and months, waste collection across the Region has been impacted by a worker strike, COVID-19 staffing shortages and severe winter weather.

The Region contracts waste collection to at least two companies, including Emterra Environmental.
