Hamilton has 11 areas with some of the highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario

For the second week in a row, there are 11 neighbourhoods in Hamilton with some of the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of August 22 to 28.

Of the top 50 listed, 11 are in Hamilton:

The same data for the week indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Hamilton has the second worst COVID-19 positivity in the province.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of August 22 was 3.2%, up 0.3% from the previous week.

According to ICES, the overall percent positivity in Ontario has increased steadily over the past month, with five public health units having the highest positivity: Windsor-Essex County, Hamilton, Peel, York, and Niagara.
