Arrests have been made in connection to a robbery that took place last month outside Jackson Square, Hamilton Police said Tuesday (Oct. 13).

In a Tweet, police said 22-year-old Desiree Peterson and 21-year-old Douglas Barker were identified as suspects in the case and were arrested and charged over the weekend.

The incident in question occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. on September 30, when a man withdrew money from the RBC ATM vestibule on the King Street side of Jackson Square.

As he entered the vestibule, he noticed a woman sitting inside while he withdrew cash and left.

Police say the man was then followed by an unknown man who demanded the cash the victim just withdrew.

The unknown man then pulled out what appeared to be a pool ball in a sock and swung it at the victim who was able to deflect some of the impact but was still hit in the head and hand.

The woman who was in the ATM vestibule came forward as well and joined the other suspect. Police say she then pulled out what was described as a ‘Ginsu’ knife and swung at the victim.

The victim was able to run away and reported it to police.
