Hamilton Police arrest son of man injured in Central Mountain shooting

Hamilton Police say they have arrested the 28-year-old son of a man shot during an altercation on the Central Mountain Tuesday night (Feb. 9).

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. Hamilton Police and emergency services were called to a residence in the area of Upper Sherman and Lincoln Alexander Parkway for reports of a shooting.

Once on scene, officers found a man suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound on his lower body.

Police said that after speaking with the victim, he was transported to the hospital to receive further treatment.

Officers secured the area and gathered evidence.

“Through continued investigation, police determined the victim was involved in an altercation with his son,” a police press release said.

“As the interaction escalated, the victim was shot by his son.”

Shortly before the 9:30 p.m., police said, the suspect returned to the residence where he was arrested without incident. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to face firearm-related charges.

The investigation remains ongoing and Hamilton Police expect to be at the residence Wednesday.
