Hamilton pitch competition, Lions Lair is back, and organizers are looking for up-and-coming entrepreneurs to pitch their business to a panel of Hamilton’s top business experts and investors.

Now in its 12th year, applications for Lions Lair opened on Apr. 5 and will close on May 8 at 11:59 p.m.

The finalists will compete for prizes by engaging in a series of training sessions throughout the summer. They will be tested on their growth and financial and legal readiness strategies.

Organized by Hamilton’s Innovation Factory, Lions Lair will take place in a bracket-style tournament called “Lions Lair Pitch Madness” on Sept. 22. The finalists will deliver their pitch and field questions from the “Investor Lions,” who will determine the winners from each match-up to advance to the next round.

Applicants can enter the competition online at lionslair.ca.

Last year’s winner was EmergConnect. The GTA-based start-up uses cutting-edge AI and machine learning to improve emergency room patient wait times, enhance patient care, and save hospitals money.

“Winning Lions Lair 2021 will no doubt make a big difference in the future growth of our company,” Ron Galaev, founder and CEO of EmergConnect said last September. “Lions Lair has been a phenomenal and unique experience from which we have received great value, connections, and amazing feedback.”
