Hamilton mom calls $100,000 Encore lotto win a ‘pure shock’

Being family-minded helped Hazel Nguyen of Hamilton score a six-figure lottery win.
The 37-year-old married mother cashed a $100,000 Encore prize after matching the last six of seven numbers in exact order in the July 20 Lotto 6/49 draw. Nguyen said it was her first major win.
“I like to choose my own numbers and play significant family birthdates,” she said while picking up her winnings at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) prize centre in Torontos.
Nguyen plans to use the windfall to pay some bills and visit the Philippines. She added that she checked her tickets while stopping to put some gas in her car.
“I was in pure shock to discover the amount I won,” she wins.
Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an Encore draw every day.
