Hamilton men arrested, charged in connection to daytime shooting

Two Hamilton men, whose names were not released by police, have been arrested in relation to an alleged targeted shooting on Thursday morning (Nov. 25).

Hamilton Police Service say they received several 911 calls alerting them to to an active shooting in the area of Old Guelph Road and York Road. Officers found a 22-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported to hospital where he has since been treated and released.

Two other were espied attempting to flee the area on foot. Officers promptly arrested both.

THe HPS says the co-accused and the victim know each other, and believe the incident was a targeted shooting. They are advising the public that forensics detectives will be in the area until around 6:30 p.m.

One suspect, a 31-year-old man, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Discharging a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession contrary to a court order
  • Having a prohibited firearm
  • Being an occupant of a motor vehicle while knowing there was firearm

A 32-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Being an occupant of a motor vehicle while knowing there was firearm

The men have a bail hearing on Friday, which is why HPS has not identified them.
