A Hamilton man said he felt faint after finding out he had won a massive lottery prize.

OLG congratulated 54-year-old Dean Adams for winning $1 million after he matched all seven Encore numbers in exact order in the April 1, 2023 Lotto 6/49 draw.

The automotive industry worker, who said he plays the lottery twice a week, was in disbelief when he checked the ticket and saw “Big Winner.”

“I thought this can’t be right! I thought it was an April Fool’s joke until I brought it to the store clerk and had the validation slip in my hands,” Adams said. “My heart was pounding, and I felt like I was in a daze.”

As for what he’ll do with the money, he’s considering buying a new home with his family and a new engine for his classic car.

“My close friends and family said it couldn’t have happened to a better person, and that means a lot to hear their words of kindness,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Shell gas station on Hurontario Street in Mississauga, according to OLG.
