A 51-year-old Hamilton man died after a workplace incident at National Steel Car Monday night. It’s the third death at the company in the last two years.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene at around 8 p.m. in Hamilton’s north-end, after an object, weighing approximately 2,000-pounds, fell, injuring the man. Paramedics say attempts were made to resuscitate him on the way to the trauma centre, but no vital signs were found.

The death is being investigated by the Ministry of Labour.

A post by National Steel Car on the company’s official Facebook page indicated that the night shift on Monday and Tuesday’s afternoon and night shift are cancelled.
