A young Hamilton grocery store worker is riding high after winning big on a scratch lotto ticket recently.

Zachary Zampini of Hamilton is $250,000 richer after winning with Instant Double Diamond.

Nineteen-year-old Zampini said he’s won smaller prizes in the past, but nothing this big.

“I scratched my ticket in the store and saw I had three pineapples,” he said, while at the OLG price centre in Toronto picking up his cheque.

“I didn’t react at first because I didn’t believe it!”

Zampini said the first thing he did was share the good news with his parents.

“I sat them down at the table and told them – they were excited for me!”

Plans for Zampini’s winnings include investing in real estate, sports memorabilia and a vacation when it’s safe to travel again.

The winning ticket was purchased at Han’s Rainbow Super Variety on Rymal Road on the Moutain.

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre.
