Firefighters rescued three girls trapped at the Devil’s Punchbowl Falls conservation area last night (May 23).

According to the Hamilton Fire Department, the girls got stuck while climbing too high through the gorge.

The girls, two aged 14 and one 11, had decided to hike up from the bottom of the falls to the top but reached a “point of no return and no further access,” the fire department told inthehammer.com.

After being stuck halfway up the gorge, just before 7 p.m., the distressed girls called 911.

Firefighters set up a high-angle rope retrieval and descended to the girls, who were not injured.

According to the authorities, all three were brought back safely to the top of the falls shortly after 9 p.m.
