Hamilton boy suffers life-threatening injuries after car crashes into bus shelter
A collision sent a vehicle crashing through a Hamilton bus shelter, striking a 12-year-old boy who was waiting with his mother and two younger sisters.

A collision sent a vehicle crashing through a Hamilton bus shelter Thursday evening, leaving a 12-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries.

The boy was struck while waiting in a bus shelter on Queenston Rd. with his mother and two sisters, who are ten and nine.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in the area of Grays Rd. and Hwy 8 in Stoney Creek.

A westbound Hyundai being operated by a 26-year-old Hamilton male was struck by a Honda Civic that was making a left turn onto Grays. The collision sent the Hyundai onto the sidewalk and into an HSR bus shelter, where it hit the 12-year-old boy.

Police say “the injuries were believed to be life-threatening at the scene and the 12-year-old was rushed to hospital.” The boy’s injuries have since been upgraded to stable, and he is expected to recover.

Hamilton Police are on the scene investigating the crash.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated. They brought in drones to surveil the area and collect evidence.
