The Halton Region was recently recognized as the safest large municipality in all of the Canadian municipalities with populations of 100,000 or more.
The Halton Region was recently recognized as the safest large municipality in all of the Canadian municipalities with populations of 100,000 or more. This is the 14th year in a row that the region was received this recognition.
The Stats Canada report – Police-Reported Crime Statistics in Canada, 2018 – released on July 22, 2019, provides an in-depth overview of crime statistics reported by police across the country.
And, according to Halton Police, as mentioned the region has maintained its position in having the lowest crime severity index of all municipalities in the country (with a population of 100,000 or more).
However, that’s not all the report revealed about the region.
The report, according to Halton Police, also found that the region has the lowest crime severity index (CSI) when compared to the province’s ‘Big 12’ police services, and also had the lowest violent crime severity index when compared to the ‘Big 12’, along with the lowest non-violent crime severity index.
The ‘Big 12’ police services consist of the Halton, Peel, York, Toronto, Hamilton, Waterloo, London, Durham, Niagara, Windsor, Sudbury, and Ottawa police services.
The region has also maintained the lowest values for each of the three indices mentioned above for 11 reporting years in a row when compared to the ‘Big 12’.
Furthermore, Halton also had the lowest overall crime rate, violent crime rate, and property crime rate amongst the province’s ‘Big 12’ police services, and the highest weighted clearance rate and has maintained the lowest value for this index for five years in a row.
These finds are something that the Halton Regional Police Service is proud of.
