Halton municipalities are facing a financial burden as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing emergency orders.
Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, who tabled the motion, said Halton municipalities require “immediate emergency operating funding to avoid destructive cuts to frontline programs, services and unmanageable tax increases”.
The Halton Region is anticipating net expenditures due to COVID-19 safety measures to reach $10.6 million by the end of 2020.
