Halton Hills residents completing renovation projects may need a road occupancy permit

Halton Hills residents who are completing work on their homes this spring and summer may need a Road Occupancy Permit (ROP) if construction supplies or disposal containers don’t fit on their properties.

The ROP ensures the safe placement of containers and construction supplies on the road allowance, in situations where neither can be placed on a private driveway.

Residents are reminded that the ROP for disposal containers and construction supplies is required for all work areas, projects and bin placements within the Town’s road allowance which includes boulevards, sidewalks and roadways.

The ROP is required prior to the placement of any disposal containers or construction supplies within the road allowance where a minimum of five business days is required for permit processing or when each location is evaluated on an individual basis.

Fees for the ROP are $510 for a damage deposit, $122.39 for a permit fee and $244.80 for a late permit fee.

The ROP must be accompanied by a completed Town of Halton Hills Certificate of Insurance.
