Grand country estate near Port Perry sells for $3.3 million; Oshawa condos dominate least expensive homes sold in July

An 82-acre farm property in Scugog straight out of a Hallmark movie sold for $3.3 million last month, the most expensive home to trade ownership in Durham Region in July, according to real estate broker Zoocasa.
The Shirley Road property – just south of Port Perry – comes with a 5-bedroom stone and brick house, a guest house with a full size kitchen, a professionally restored century barn with nine stalls and eight paddocks, a commercial grade greenhouse, a pole barn, mechanic’s shop and a chicken coop, to name a few of the amenities.
The property can be used as a grand country estate, a horse farm and even a wedding venue. The home sold June 10.
Number two on the list is a 5-bedroom estate on William Street in Claremont in north Pickering that sold for $2,744,000 July 15, while number three was a 4-bedroom urban estate on Spruce Hill Road in west Pickering that changed hands July 209 for $2.49 million.
Number four was in Uxbridge: a 6-bedroom country paradise on 64 acres on Concession 3 that sold July 6 for $2,250,000.
Fifth on the list was a ravine bungalow on Shepherd Rd. W (near Heber Downs Conservation Area) in Whitby that sold for $2,218,000.

Oshawa, as per usual, dominated the five most affordable homes sold last month, with one building in the city’s north-end University District claiming the top three spots.

Condo apartments at 1900 Simcoe St. N. sold for $277,500 (July 4), $255,555 (July 9) and $270,000 (July 24). All the apartments have access to a gym, study area and media room, among other extras.
Number four on the list was also in Oshawa, a one-bedroom apartment downtown at 50 Richmond. The condo unit sold for $370,000 July 6. The building boasts a gym, billiards room, car wash and library, as well as an interior courtyard.
Rounding out the top five was a three-season cottage/trailer on the shores of Lake Scugog that sold July 24 for $310,000. The waterfront property (with dock) has $10,700 in annual resort fees, which includes the property taxes.
